We are not merely our brain. And brain need not, and should not, be deployed for every task while studying. We can give sufficient rest to brain even during studies, by using the non-brain elements more. This can significantly de-stress the child and also increase her productivity manifold.
At least fifty percent of the study can be completed keeping the brain in relaxed mode. To illustrate, when a student is learning multiplication tables, she thinking about the multiplication process can overheat her brain. Also, the time taken to learn the tables will increase rather than decrease. It is better to recite, using eyes and tongue( let ears join passively, enjoying the rhythm of the recitation). Let there be zero involvement of the thinking brain. This will produce a muscle memory which is much faster to retrieve.
Activities such as drawing diagrams, revision without re-study (child only needs to flip the pages and not learn anything) will produce considerable improvement in retention, and also, marks in the examinations.
Much of the study is mere work, and need not involve mind at all; if students realise this, it can be a big time stress reliever for them.

*You may have noticed that most of the students prefer to study again rather than taking a model examination. A model examination is far less taxing on brain than re-studying but will fetch better outcomes than re-studying. Revision exam does involve brain but it is of altogether of a different order from studying again.*
